Tesla faces fines

Elon Musk's Tesla failed to adequately protect the data of customers, employees and business partners. A whistleblower leaked 100 GB of confidential data. The company may face a fine of 350 million dollars in this incident. News The Guardian.

The issue was first reported by the German newspaper Handelsblatt. According to a report, the file labeled 'Tesla file' contains a large amount of customer data of the car maker.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has information on 100,000 former and current employees, including social security numbers. Includes personal e-mail addresses, phone numbers, employee salaries, customer bank details and manufacturing secrets.

Tesla's European Gigafactory is located in Brandenburg, Germany. Local data protection office official Dagmar Hartge called the data leak 'extensive'.

Tesla could be fined up to four percent of its annual sales if the incident proves to be a violation of data protection laws. Its amount can be 350 million dollars.

Citing leaked files, the German newspaper cited a large number of customer complaints about Tesla's driver assistance program. Where there are about 4000 complaints.

Tesla did not comment on the matter until yesterday Friday (May 26) even though this incident of data leakage created a sensation.
